If you’re running a game jam, or at least a contest, you’re likely to need a pack bag to hold your equipment.
It’s a great way to get some extra space, but it can be a bit cumbersome.
Here’s a guide to building your own pack bag for your jam entry.
1.
Select your gamejam entry title The best way to create a packbag is to pick the one that best reflects the theme of your jam.
This could be the theme you’re working on, or your game, or whatever.
2.
Choose your bag materials Pick materials that suit your jam, such as foam, acrylic, or canvas.
Make sure to choose materials that are easy to work with, such.
as an open-faced bag.
3.
Make a plan for storing your gear Choose your gear, such that it fits neatly inside your pack.
Consider how many of your favorite items are in your pack, as well as how many are hanging on to it. 4.
Choose an appropriate size and shape When selecting your gear for your pack bag or jam entry, make sure to consider the size of your backpack.
Your backpack should be able to comfortably carry all of your gear.
If you want to have some room to move your items around, make your backpack smaller.
5.
Choose a suitable materials for your bag You might also consider the type of materials you’ll be using.
For example, a bag made out of acrylic might not work well for a jam entry because acrylic isn’t water-resistant.
You can make your bag out of any type of material, including plastic, fiberglass, and leather.
6.
Choose materials to hang your equipment If you have a lot of gear hanging around, it’s easier to store the items in a bag.
For most jams, you’ll probably want to store your equipment on a rack to prevent it from slipping.
You should also consider how you’ll hang your gear and how it will hang in your bag.
7.
Cut out your jam submission plan Now that you’ve made your jam plan, it’ll be time to put it together.
First, choose your submission item, such a costume, game, comic, or other game-related item.
Then, you should choose your bag dimensions, such an 8.5 by 8.25 by 4.5 inch (20.5 x 20.5 cm) bag.
Make your bag size, such the “S” or “L” size, and make sure your bag will fit inside your jam space.
8.
Add your entry items You might want to include some extra items for your entry, such items that can’t be easily attached to your pack without damaging it.
For instance, you might include a set of game tokens, a set that contains two of your game entries, or a set to keep track of your entries.
9.
Place your pack plan on the wall Next, place your pack plans on the front wall of your space.
This should be on a regular surface.
If your space is a table, a piece of cardboard or a shelf, place it so that the top of the pack will rest on a surface that’s flat and flat, rather than against a wall.
10.
Build your pack!
When you’ve assembled your pack and plan, make a decision on what your next step is.
If there are a lot more items in your jam than your space allows, it might be a good idea to add additional items to the plan to increase the space you’ll have.
You could add additional chairs, a table or two, or more tables.
If the space doesn’t have enough room for your items, add another bag.
